Tefilla
Our voices, our tradition.
At MESA, students learn to daven with understanding and joy, in the nusach and melodies of our Sephardic synagogues.
Our Tefilla program
Learning to pray with heart.
Tefilla is at the heart of the MESA day. Our students learn proper Sephardic keriah, tefilla and te'amim so they can take their place with confidence in our synagogues and in the life of our community.
As our students explain it, te'amim are the special musical notes and hand motions used when reading Torah and prayers, a treasured Sephardic art. At our First Grade Siddur Celebration, students receive the siddur they will daven from each morning.
In their own words
Our students on Tefilla.
“We focus on tefillot and Sephardic te'amim.” Two of our students explain what makes tefilla at MESA special.
Selichot
Fathers and students, together in tefilla.
MESA fathers join our students for Selichot, filling our tefilla with voices of every generation.
